September 2011 Dear Parent/Guardian We are now enjoying the benefits of our new school building and all the wonderful resources it offers us. This year we will put the finishing touches to our new physical environment with the completion of our Oratory. It is no accident that the Oratory will be positioned appropriately at the highest and most central point of the school. We have been so fortunate to have been provided with such superb facilities and we have worked hard to create a place which matches the quality of pastoral care, curricular and extra-curricular provision which Assumption offers.
The real quality of a school is evidenced neither in the actual building nor through its website but is witnessed through its ethos and through meeting the partners who are involved in the educational processes. We are proud of what the Missionary Sisters of the Assumption have provided for us and we are charged with the responsibility of developing our Fully Alive ethos. If you have the opportunity to visit us you will find a centre of excellence which is absorbed in a Christian family and community spirit. You will find a content body of staff, pupils and parents who are challenged to develop all their gifts. Here there are real partnerships which ensure that our young learners reach their full potential.
Our specialist status designation has enabled us to strengthen our position as a school in the heart of the community. We are continuing to build on our already strong relationships with local primary and post primary schools and are sharing resources and expertise with each other. Our collaborative vision and success have attracted investment from top professionals in the realms of music and sport as well as other fields. Assumption’s achievements through these two disciplines are representative of what life is like in all areas of school life, both in terms of curricular and extra curricular activities. We view all of our departments as centres of excellence.
Our school not only has a reputation for academic excellence but is renowned for being a place where every effort is made towards genuine development. In this sense we remain true to the aims of Catholic education and help our pupils grow in acceptance of their true selves. By doing this we can continue to look forward to the future with great confidence, ready to face whatever challenges we are dealt through educational developments. Hopefully our website will provide you with some sense of what we are about and encourage you to pay a real visit to our school.
Yours sincerely Mr Paul McBride PRINCIPAL
