The Assumption Past Pupils' Union has survived for well over half a century and is the envy of many schools. It exists primarily to perpetuate the friendships established during our days at Assumption, as well as to support the Sisters in their missionary work. Under the direction of our president, Mary Wells, we hope to continue to do just that.

Our main fund-raiser is the annual Mission Club. This is a ten-week draw, beginning each January. The cost is £5 per ticket, and each week we have prizes of £20, £15, £10 & £10. On the 5th and 10th week, we have an additional prize of £50. Tickets are available from any committee member or from Sr. Mary Cunningham at the convent. The number of postal entries has increased year on year and we are very grateful for your continued support.

The highlight of the year is always the Annual Reunion. This year it will be on Friday 27th March 2020 in The Millbrook Lodge Hotel in Ballynahimch, where we have had many good celebrations in the past.

We appeal to ALL past pupils to join us in what is always a great night’s craic! Particularly welcome are those who started in Assumption in 1990, returning for the first time; past pupils from 1970, who will celebrate the 50th anniversary of their arrival in Ballynahinch; and, by popular demand, those from 1980 (including anyone who joined those classes on the way up the school). We hope this is giving those of you who are living abroad plenty of notice, so you can plan your holiday home!

The Past Pupils’ Newsletter is published twice a year. It informs about coming events, and includes articles by, and news of, past pupils. We depend on you to keep us informed. If you have any contribution, we would love to hear from you. Please contact Mary Kane. The annual fee of £2 to cover postage is payable at the Reunion in June, but you can register at any time for inclusion in our mailing list by forwarding your address and fee to:

Past Pupils' Union, c/o Assumption Convent, 34, Crossgar Road, Ballynahinch, Co. Down BT24 8EN (please make cheques payable to:-Assumption Convent No 5 A/C).

The Bridge Event last March proved to be a big hit, so we hope to arrange another early next year. (details later). Proceeds this time will go to Assumption High School St. James in Schauderville (Port Elizabeth).

We look forward to seeing many of you at our events in the coming year. We survive only with your continued support! Finally, we are continually updating our database, and we would be grateful if you would check that your details are registered correctly.
